Chinese buyers are ready to cooperate and import goods made in Ukraine

From May 14 to 16, 2019, Ukrainian food producers participated in Asia's largest food industry event - SIAL CHINA.

It can be confidently stated that Sial China is the number one exhibition in the People's Republic of China for professionals in the food, beverage, and specialized equipment industry. It is this event that sets the benchmark for foreign companies planning to enter the Asian market.

This year, the international event in Shanghai brought together more than four thousand companies and approximately 112,000 business representatives from around the world.

The Ukrainian Food Export Board (UFEB), together with the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, organized a national stand for domestic companies.

The participants of the Ukrainian business delegation at Sial China 2019 were: Chumak, Agro Trade Lubny, Kernel, Kaissa Oil, Bread Factory No. 1 (TM "Sweet Arte"), Agrovita, and OILWAY-GROUP.

"An impressively large-scale exhibition, to which we brought Ukrainian nuts, seeds, and beans for presentation and promotion. However, nuts were the most popular among Asian representatives. Business visitors from Turkey and Egypt also paid close attention to our exposition. Over the three days of the exhibition, we received a significant number of contacts with whom we are now conducting negotiations, and we are also sending nut samples to China," noted the representatives of Agro Trade Lubny LLC.

"In addition to presenting our products and building contacts, we received valuable advice and consultations. Among our products, the greatest interest was shown in sugar cookies without glaze. As it turned out, glazed cookies are too sweet for the Asian market and also require specific temperature conditions and transportation nuances. Apart from Chinese representatives, our sweets attracted significant interest from buyers from Vietnam and Malaysia. We are grateful for the opportunity to participate in the exhibition, as we have developed a number of potential contacts and are currently actively conducting negotiations," shared the representatives of Sweet Arte.

In general, among domestic products, significant interest was shown in: sunflower oil, which already holds a leading position among Asian importers (in 2018, shipments to China totaled 334 million USD), confectionery, sauces, smoothies, walnuts, seeds, and others.

As we can see, our products are becoming increasingly recognized on the international stage, and the event demonstrated that Chinese partners are ready to cooperate and import goods made in Ukraine.

Participation in international exhibition platforms of this scale gives domestic companies the opportunity to present their own Ukrainian-made products, establish valuable connections, build partnerships, and open new opportunities for expanding the geography of trade and economic cooperation.
