UAE & Saudi Arabia trade mission 2027
The UAE and Saudi Arabia are the Middle East’s most powerful economies, with a combined population of over 45 million people and extremely high income levels. The regional food market is valued at over US$70 billion, with projected growth to US$85 billion by 2029, driven by rapid urbanisation and the development of tourism. Both countries are heavily dependent on food imports (up to 90%), and the implementation of the ‘Vision 2030’ national strategies is driving the search for new reliable suppliers, opening up an unprecedented window of opportunity for the Ukrainian agri-food sector.
The most promising categories for expansion are meat products (Halal-certified), dairy products, cereals and pulses, oil, confectionery and niche eco-products. Among the products with the fastest-growing demand are frozen ready meals, gluten-free snacks, organic juices and protein products. Consumers in the region, particularly young people in Saudi Arabia and the many expats in the UAE, are following global trends in healthy eating, premium packaging and convenience (ready-to-eat), whilst remaining true to traditions of quality.
Participation in the 2027 trade mission offers a unique opportunity to hold direct B2B negotiations with key retailers such as Lulu, Carrefour and Panda, as well as to establish contacts with HoReCa distributors. Participants will receive comprehensive information on the specifics of ESMA and SFDA certification, logistics routes via the ports of Jebel Ali and Jeddah, as well as the cultural nuances of doing business. Although the Gulf markets are highly competitive and sensitive to safety standards, for Ukrainian manufacturers capable of ensuring consistent quality and transparency of processes, this is the path to large-scale and long-term contracts.
