Specialisation and uniqueness: Canada’s only international food exhibition of its kind and the premier platform for entering the North American market. It is organised by Comexposium, the owner of the global SIAL network, which comprises 12 exhibitions across four continents. SIAL Canada alternates its location between Montreal and Toronto each year, thereby covering the full spectrum of regional and local demand, including the growing ethnic market. In 2027, the exhibition returns to Toronto — the country’s economic hub and Canada’s largest consumer market.

The exhibition’s thematic structure covers the entire food industry supply chain: from cheese and olive oil to high-tech packaging and food processing solutions. The supporting programme includes the SIAL Innovation Award — a competition for innovative products that gives winners access to the entire SIAL network; the Olive d'Or — an international olive oil competition; the International Cheese Competition; a pitching competition for start-ups; and the SIAL To Go format — practical sessions analysing current market trends.

The key feature of SIAL Canada lies in the precision of its audience targeting and its approach to engaging buyers. 83% of all visitors play a key role in procurement decisions within their companies, and the three main reasons for attending are to discover new products, network and find new suppliers. The Hosted Buyer Programme invites over 100 key buyers and importers from Canada and international markets every year — qualified buyers attend free of charge, which underscores the commercial rationale behind the event.

For food producers, SIAL Canada offers the most direct route to the world’s largest export market. Canada is the world’s second-largest market for agricultural products, and the CETA trade agreement grants Ukrainian producers access to it on preferential terms. Three days in Toronto with a well-structured programme of meetings yield more genuine business contacts than years of independently searching for distributors in an unfamiliar market.
