The Nordic countries — Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland—are the most developed markets for organic and natural products in the world, with Denmark and Sweden leading the way. Scandinavian consumers are becoming increasingly discerning about product ingredients: the proportion of those who actively choose food based on naturalness and health benefits rose from 36% in 2023 to 44% in 2024. Sweden is the fastest-growing market for organic food in Europe, with an annual growth rate of 15.3%, driven by high demand for plant-based products and government programmes supporting sustainable production. For Ukrainian producers of natural products, this is one of the most promising markets in Europe in terms of both the audience’s purchasing power and openness to new suppliers.

In 2024, Sweden imported agricultural and food products worth approximately 225 billion Swedish kronor, with the categories of coffee, tea and cocoa (+16%), fruit and vegetables (+3%) and dairy products (+2%) showing the strongest growth. In Norway, demand is growing for organic products, ethnic foods and ready meals, with health-conscious consumers actively driving import growth in these categories. In Denmark, organic products account for 11.6% of the retail market by value — one of the highest figures in the world. Promising categories for Ukrainian producers include organic cereals and flour, natural oils, honey and bee products, dried fruit and nuts, natural juices and concentrates, as well as plant-based protein products.

The trade mission offers the opportunity to hold direct negotiations with importers and distributors of natural and organic products in each of the countries, to familiarise oneself with the organic certification requirements for the Scandinavian market, and to understand the specifics of entering the market through regional players.
